Hillsdale Board of Public Utilities (BPU)
Since 1892, the Hillsdale Board of Public Utilities has been the municipally owned and operated provider of electric, water and wastewater services to the City of Hillsdale and the outlying areas. Presently, the Hillsdale BPU serves over 6,300 residents in central Hillsdale County with reliable electric power and nearly 4,000 homes and businesses receive quality water and wastewater services within the city limits.
The mission of the Hillsdale BPU is to meet or exceed our customer's needs and expectations for reliable, economic and environmentally responsible public utility services.
Shall be composed of five (5) members, appointed by the Mayor and approved by Council. Board shall annually during the month of May, organize and elect one (1) of it's appointed members as President. The City Clerk shall be the ex officio Clerk of the Board, but shall have no vote. The City Clerk shall have access to all of its records and papers.
