The Hillsdale County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce a grant from the USDA to begin, build, and sustain a Tourism Division. Funds from this award are restricted to the work to be performed to plan and implement the Tourism Division.
Memberships are still critical revenue sources to sustain the usual and normal work of the Chamber. That work includes:
The grant from the USDA begins in August, when we will be reaching out to stakeholders to design a successful tourism division. A successful implementation fills a void in how our businesses are marketed outside of Hillsdale County. Businesses and organizations currently market their own events, sales, and special days. With a successful tourism division, the Chamber will develop marketing materials that:
*Highlight our local destination sites and focus on our members’ businesses that sell products or services that tourists are searching to find.
*Promote the unique and wonderful elements of our county that tourists want to experience. The key to this success is to consistently market the county to bring people into Hillsdale County while encouraging them to spend their money here. In terms of economic development that money is new money for merchants, members, and event sponsors that they would not otherwise be obtained.
*Partner with Pure Michigan and other travel organizations to create an efficient use of our tourism funds while maximizing our ability to publicize Hillsdale County.
We believe this grant announcement is yet another big moment, and comes on the heels of another wonderful Summerfest, where our classic car show and family festival came together for a great day of fun for the county.
