The Hillsdale County Chamber of Commerce Receives Grant Award from the USDA
The Hillsdale County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce a grant from the USDA to begin, build, and sustain a Tourism Division. Funds from this award are restricted to the work to be performed to plan and implement the Tourism Division.
Memberships are still critical revenue sources to sustain the usual and normal work of the Chamber. That work includes:
The grant from the USDA begins in August, when we will be reaching out to stakeholders to design a successful tourism division. A successful implementation fills a void in how our businesses are marketed outside of Hillsdale County. Businesses and organizations currently market their own events, sales, and special days. With a successful tourism division, the Chamber will develop marketing materials that:
*Highlight our local destination sites and focus on our members’ businesses that sell products or services that tourists are searching to find.
*Promote the unique and wonderful elements of our county that tourists want to experience. The key to this success is to consistently market the county to bring people into Hillsdale County while encouraging them to spend their money here. In terms of economic development that money is new money for merchants, members, and event sponsors that they would not otherwise be obtained.
*Partner with Pure Michigan and other travel organizations to create an efficient use of our tourism funds while maximizing our ability to publicize Hillsdale County.
We believe this grant announcement is yet another big moment, and comes on the heels of another wonderful Summerfest, where our classic car show and family festival came together for a great day of fun for the county.
If you are interested in helping to build the tourism division please call 517-260-4705. Or please email me at email@example.com.
The mission of the Hillsdale County Chamber of Commerce is to promote Hillsdale County, our members and businesses through programs and services which stimulate economic growth and foster commerce.
The Chamber published its 2018 membership campaign on December 7, 2018. We are proud to tout our bulk mail discounts which save members well beyond their membership investment. Some members who use the service have saved thousands of dollars.
We will also be highlighting the start up of our tourism division. If your business is a destination site for tourists or visitors you will want to renew your membership as we offer free courses on customer service and competitive advantage, and other workshops. Members will receive discounts on advertising that will target day trippers, those people who will travel 2-3 hours to visit our unique shops, stores, retailers, the Hillsdale College gun range, our restaurants, gift shops and historical sites, our golf courses, trails and more.
The Chamber's Annual Open House will be on December 14th at Hillsdale Buick GMC's showroom. Come by and visit our staff, discuss the the direction the Chamber is taking, how we can help your business, network with other members. The Open House will run from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Hillsdale College and the Chamber are partners and offering in 2018 a Leadership Development Series. These programs are most often created and implemented by chambers and their partners to build leadership in the county. Participants learn fundamental and advanced leadership skills, network with peers in their cohort and often stay in contact with these peers after the series, and utilize their learnings to better their leadership abilities and their organizations sustainability and growth.
If you are interested in sending an employee or attending the series let Randy (director) know at 517 260 4705 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. Graduates receive a beautiful certification that they will proud to hang on their office wall.
